Wolters Kluwer, a leading global provider of information and point of care solutions for the healthcare industry, is pleased to announce the new open-access journal, Pediatric Quality and Safety, launched online on June 16, 2016. Pediatric Quality and Safety is an international online, peer-reviewed, journal dedicated to providing healthcare professionals a forum to disseminate the results of quality improvement and patient safety initiatives that impact the lives of children from newborn to young adulthood.
“Quality and safety work was once only a peripheral focus for many organizations, but now it is front and center in nearly all that we do in healthcare – it is actually mainstream,” explains Richard J. Brilli, MD, FAAP, MCCM, a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal and Chief Medical Officer at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. “As we launch this new journal, we look forward to contributing to the broad dissemination of the plethora of ongoing scholarly improvement activities, with a goal of truly improving child health.”
As an open access journal, articles are freely available to read online around the world. Pediatric Quality and Safety promises to offer a space for providers to publish and access original research focusing solely on the improvement activities within the pediatric community.
Richard E. McClead, Jr., MD, MHA, a Co-Editor-in-Chief of Pediatric Quality and Safety and Associate Chief Medical Officer at Nationwide Children’s Hospital adds, “There is a lot of quality improvement and patient safety work being conducted by experts at the children’s hospitals all across the United States and around the world. If we are to make progress on eliminating patient harm and improving health outcomes, we need a venue in which our work can be shared. I think Pediatric Quality & Safety is the perfect platform on which that sharing can take place.”
