Wolters Kluwer included in FTSE4Good index for 2nd consecutive time

Wolters Kluwer is pleased to announce its inclusion in the international sustainability index FTSE4Good for the 2nd consecutive time. These recognitions are based on the company’s performance in environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.

Creating shared value

In his seminal article Harvard Business Review article ‘Creating Shared Value’, Professor Michael E. Porter helped redefine the purpose of the corporation as ‘Creating shared value, not just profit per se’ adding, ‘This will drive the next wave of innovation and productivity growth in the global economy.’

Within his highly influential framework, Porter explained how the traditional role of a company has changed from solely creating financial value for its shareholders to creating value for its stakeholders. For Wolters Kluwer this translates as:

  • Supporting our customers to make the right decisions
  • Developing the capacity of employees and provide attractive talent development opportunities
  • Empowering the communities in which we work in, by providing access to information
  • Minimizing our environmental footprint through increased efficiency

The inclusion in the FTSE4Good for the 2nd consecutive time follows the Company’s repeated inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, and emphasizes the increasing demand of investors not only for financial KPIs, but also for improved transparency of its ESG performance. Investors are an integral part of our stakeholder framework, and we continue to improve our sustainability reporting and responding to ESG analysis requests. Therefore, we are proud that our sustainability practices are acknowledged by investors. Wolters Kluwer has integrated the interest of people, planet, and profit firmly within its corporate business strategy.

More than 300 indicators for the FTSE4Good rating model cover the company’s internal sustainability practices and help measure the environmental and social performance of Wolters Kluwer’s supply chain. A rating score of 3.5 or better (out of 5) results in the inclusion in the FTSE4Good index series, mandating an above-average performance.
