Wolters Kluwer Financial Services Expert Offers Best Practices to Manage Fair and Responsible Banking Risk

Timothy R. Burniston to Provide Keynote Address at Utah Bankers Association Compliance Conference

Wolters Kluwer Financial Services announced today that Timothy Burniston, executive vice president of its Professional Services and Consulting Practice, will present the keynote address at the Utah Bankers Association Fall Compliance Conference being held on Oct. 27-29 at the Chateaux in Deer Valley, Utah.

During his presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8:30 a.m. MDT, Burniston will examine how stresses brought about by regulatory burden, heightened supervisory expectations for both banks and non-banks, costly enforcement actions, usual business pressures, and even a U.S. Supreme Court decision all unite to form a challenging ecosystem for bankers.

“Fair and responsible lending is at the top of the ‘hot compliance topics’ leaderboard and has been for a long time,” said Burniston. “And there are sound approaches that an institution can employ to manage fair and responsible banking risk, with an eye toward safe and profitable growth.”

Burniston joined Wolters Kluwer Financial Services in 2011. His group helps compliance and risk management executives more effectively navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment. Previously, he was a senior executive in the federal government who designed and led compliance, fair lending, and Community Reinvestment Act examination programs for the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Office of Thrift Supervision.
