As of November 2017, facilities must link staffing with the required facility assessment, which considers the number, acuity and diagnoses of the facility’s resident population.

While the task of ensuring competency-based staffing might seem burdensome there is a bright side. Training and education are often associated with increased staff retention, decreased staff turnover, improved patient and resident outcomes, and a more effective and engaged workforce.
