Company provides combined monetary and healthcare information aid
Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines created a devastating impact on a large part of the population. In support of disaster relief efforts, several initiatives have been set up by Wolters Kluwer. First, Wolters Kluwer is actively supporting the Red Cross' efforts with employee donations and amplifying those contributions through a special matching program, which doubles the total amount of donations received through employees. We have donated a total of $28,548 to help the relief efforts.
Additionally, our free Emergency Resources Portal valued at approximately $360,000, has provided much needed support to Philippine hospitals and healthcare institutions. The portal provided free online access to emergency, disaster and trauma resources via its Ovid platform. Wolters Kluwer Health also participated in the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) Emergency Access Initiative (EAI) providing access to more than 40 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins journals.
"We offer our deepest sympathies to the people suffering from this unprecedented natural disaster," said Cathy Wolfe, President and CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health, Medical Research. "As a provider of medical information, it's our mission to provide healthcare professionals and first responders with fast access to the medical literature in support of emergency and trauma care to those affected by the disaster."
