Wolters Kluwer Previews LEAP Code Group Manager at HIMSS15

Wolters Kluwer, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today the debut of its LEAP Code Group Manager at the HIMSS Annual Conference (Booth #8103) underway in Chicago. Slated for general release in May, the new web-based solution is designed to change the way hospitals, health plans and vendors manage code groups, also referred to as value sets.

As the industry wrestles with value-based payment models, meaningful use and ICD-10, management of code groups is becoming increasingly important. Because code groups are represented across several healthcare standards terminologies such as HL7, SNOMED CT, LOINC® and RxNORM, correctly defining and categorizing them is critical for interoperability and accuracy in clinical measurement, quality and payments.

Part of the Health Language┬« family of products, LEAP Code Group Manager helps safeguard and promote the integrity of code groups, which are often hard-coded in business rules and maintained in numerous spreadsheets. By establishing a single source of terminology truth within a foundation of enterprise terminology governance, LEAP Code Group Manager can help tackle the terminology challenges associated with maintaining accuracy within quality measures, decision support rules and population cohorts.

LEAP Code Group Manager enables organizations to establish a single standard for concept definitions across a healthcare organization.

"The ability to refer to a single definition for each clinical term provides the benefit of clinical alignment; everyone is working with the same definition," said Leo Barbaro, Vice President & General Manager, Clinical Terminologies and Surveillance, Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions. "LEAP Code Group Manager enables healthcare organizations to abstract code groups and manage them in one place, delivering economies of scale and ensuring consistency and accuracy across the clinical measurement, quality and payment spectrum. Organizations can also dedicate fewer people to the task of creating, updating and maintaining code groups, generating direct savings and allowing more efficient and effective resource utilization."

Along with LEAP Code Group Manager, Wolters Kluwer will showcase all its Health Language terminology management solutions addressing ICD-10, meaningful use and population health/analytics initiatives in Booth #8103 at HIMSS15, which runs April 12-15.
