UpToDate accepted by the Turkish Medical Association for continuing medical education

UpToDate® by Wolters Kluwer Health is recognized as a Continuing Medical Education/Continuing Professional Development resource by Turkish Medical Association.

The Health division of Wolters Kluwer, a leading global provider of information and point of care solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today that UpToDate®, its acclaimed clinical decision support resource, is recognized as a Continuing Medical Education (CME)/Continuing Professional Development (CPD) resource by the Turkish Medical Association (TMA). For Turkish clinicians, UpToDate can be used as a continuing medical education resource that provides the most current clinical research coupled with expert recommendations to help them provide the best care for their patients.

The Turkish Medical Association plays an important role in ongoing continuing medical formation in Turkey. Founded in 1953, the TMA is the largest physician organization in the country, counting over 80% of the country's physicians as members. The TMA has over 65 provincial chapters where membership exceeds 100 members. At the international level, the TMA is a member of the World Medical Association (WMA), the European Federation of Medical Specialist (FEMS), the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), and an associate member of Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME).

"The influx of new medical research continues to grow, making it challenging for doctors to keep pace with new findings. Wolters Kluwer strives to place the most current answers to clinical questions at our users' fingertips," says Denise Basow, MD, President & CEO, Clinical Effectiveness, Wolters Kluwer. "Using a computer or mobile device, doctors in Turkey can earn continuing medical education credits while searching in UpToDate to answer clinical questions at the point of care."

Since 2000, UpToDate has been accredited as a CME provider by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). In 2012, UpToDate received Accreditation with Commendation, the ACCME's highest award status, for demonstrating engagement with the environment to further physician learning and change.
Searching clinical information in UpToDate helps doctors stay current with changes in medical practice and recommended treatments across 22 specialties. Turkish physicians can use the time they already spend researching clinical questions with UpToDate toward continuing professional development requirements at no extra cost and with no additional testing.

The Turkish Medical Association recognizes programs like UpToDate that offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians may submit their credits earned from UpToDate toward their TMA CME/CPD personal board certification requirements. There is no limit to the number of credits physicians may submit toward their requirements.

In Turkish hospitals and institutions where UpToDate Anywhere is available, using UpToDate to fulfill CME/CPD requirements is easier than ever. Physicians can access UpToDate on mobile devices using award-winning mobile apps. UpToDate may also be integrated in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, which streamlines both the clinical workflow and access to CME/CPD.
