Luo’s presentation will focus on data mining to reduce hospital-acquired infections.
Wolters Kluwer Health announced today that its Senior Data Scientist, Zhixiang (Jeffrey) Luo, will present “Data Mining In Biological and Medical Research” at the INFORMS Annual Meeting (#INFORMS2019) in Seattle. Luo’s presentation takes place at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 21, in Room 204 at the Washington State Convention Center.
In his presentation, Luo will focus on Clostridioides difficile (C.Diff), a highly contagious hospital acquired infection (HAI) that impacts 500,000 patients each year, claiming 29,000 lives and costing nearly $5 million. He will discuss how to contain the spread of C.Diff, which frequently occurs in clusters, by leveraging data to rapidly detect individual infections.
The 2019 INFORMS Annual Meeting runs October 20-Oct. 23. The conference routinely draws an estimated 6,000 INFORMS members, academics, students, industry experts and representatives of government agencies.
