Ovid, part of Wolters Kluwer Health, and a global leader in the development and delivery of customizable electronic research information for the medical, healthcare and academic markets, announced today at the 2007 Online Information Conference that it will be showcasing its new precision search and discovery platform OvidSP, as well as new content, tools, and services at Stand #518 throughout the conference. These include OvidSP in-booth theater sessions; featured new archive content, including the LWW Journal Legacy Archive subsets, EMBASE Classic, and Adis Journal Legacy Archive; and non-English language support for Ovid LinkSolver. The 2007 Online Information Conference is being held at London Olympia beginning today through December 6th.

“Every year, the Online Information Conference affords us a great opportunity to meet face to face with key publishing partners and customers from around the globe,” said Karen Abramson, President & CEO of Wolters Kluwer Health, Medical Research. “All of us are excited to come to Online to celebrate the successful global roll out of OvidSP.”

OvidSP, launched October 2007, streamlines the information search and discovery process for all types of users—from beginners to the more advanced. Designed based on extensive feedback from end users and information managers, OvidSP incorporates the advanced search technology of Ovid’s existing platforms, Ovid Gateway and SilverPlatter WEBSPIRS. OvidSP features a simple, intuitive user interface; new search functionality such as natural language processing; multiple search modes that offer different kinds of searching and geared to all levels of searchers; time-saving workflow tools, such as electronic tables of contents delivered via RSS feed and inline expandable citation abstracts; and more. Media are invited to visit the OvidSP Resource Center for more information.

Ovid continues to expand its growing portfolio of archival content offerings. Individual subsets of the Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) Journal Legacy Archive, launched in November of 2006, are now available. These include single-title archives of the 221 journals in the main archive; six subject-specific archives covering nursing, cardiology and hematology, orthopedics, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and psychology, psychiatry, and neurology; and an archive of Ovid’s LWW High Impact Journal Collection. Elsevier’s EMBASE Classic, which includes 1.8 million records from 43 Excerpta Medica abstract print volumes published between 1947 and 1973, went live in early November. The Adis Journal Legacy Archive, scheduled to be live later in December, includes the backfiles of 31 highly cited, peer-reviewed journals and letters in pharmacology, disease management, and biotechnology from Adis International, one of the leading publishers in pharmaceutical development and pharmacology research.

Ovid LinkSolver™ is now able to fully resolve, display, and pass along inbound links from Ovid SearchSolver®, Ovid’s federated search engine, and other websites that send properly configured OpenURLs containing non-English characters. Users and librarians can browse journal titles in  Journals@Ovid in Japanese and Korean, in addition to Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish, and Swedish. Users can also search and retrieve journal titles in those languages.

Held annually in London, the Online Information Conference attracts more than 800 attendees, including librarians, researchers, publishers, content managers, and web developers, from over 45 countries, providing a forum for discussing and debating issues significant to the information industry. Ovid is exhibiting at Stand #518, as part of the Wolters Kluwer Stand #520.
