Wolters Kluwer Health Launches Facts & Comparisons® Online for Health Systems Featuring Broader Content and Enhanced Interactive Tools

New version of trusted online drug information reference unveiled at ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition

Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, today launched Facts & Comparisons® Online for Health Systems, a leading edge online drug information reference that now features broader content and interactive tools to drive informed decision-making, improved patient outcomes and streamlined workflows.

The company made the announcement at the 43rd Annual American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition, where it is featuring Facts & Comparisons Online in Booth #621.

“Facts & Comparisons Online for Health Systems is a direct response to our customers’ desire for an all-inclusive, comprehensive drug information reference that is accurate and easy-to-access when and how they need it,” said Arvind Subramanian, President and CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions. “We worked closely with our customers to ensure that our drug reference solution for health systems delivers the interactive tools, enhanced functionality and expanded content that will help them deliver high-quality, cost-effective care to their patients.”

In addition to the ability to search for both trade and generic drug name products in Trissel’s IV-Chek™, the solution’s IV compatibility tool, Facts & Comparisons Online for Health Systems now features:

  • An Interactive Tools section that includes convenient access to Drug Interaction and Disease Profile Screening and IV Compatibility tools
  • Broader Medication Safety Screening that enables drug searches by name or NDC code, drug allergies and disease or symptom by name or ICD-9, and expands patient screening options
  • Side-by-Side Monograph Comparisons allowing for side-by-side presentation of referential information for two drugs
  • Comparative Tables of Drug Data which provides the ability to easily present side-by-side comparisons of therapeutic uses and drug safety information for two drugs using Medi-Span’s trusted Drug Information Bridge data

Also unique to Facts & Comparisons Online for Health Systems is the ability to link directly to pertinent FDA Medwatch articles from monographs as well as to current drug and industry news, including drug recalls and warnings, from the product website. Patient Assistance Program information is also available, as are a Drug Identifier tool, ToxFacts™ Toxicology Treatment Guidelines, Cancer Chemotherapy Manual, Clinical Calculators, MedFacts Patient Information, Manufacturer Index, and The Formulary Monograph Service™ to simplify the process of evaluating new drugs for formulary inclusion.

The company plans to release additional new features in early 2009 to further aid the clinical pharmacist in streamlining workflow and enhancing the delivery of patient care.
