Wolters Kluwer Health Partners with SickKids to Offer Online and Mobile Formulary Access and Pediatric Expertise across North America

The two organizations are working together to provide access to their combined wealth of pediatric expertise

Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that it is expanding its relationship with  The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) to offer the Toronto-based institution's formulary and clinical guidelines to any healthcare professional interested in pediatric guidance from one of North America's most respected children's health authorities. The SickKids formulary will be available for purchase in packages with Lexicomp® Online™ and Lexicomp® Mobile Apps, the industry-leading hospital drug reference offerings from Wolters Kluwer's Clinical Drug Information group.

Through its Lexicomp application line, Wolters Kluwer has been working with SickKids, Canada's largest children's health center and one of its most research-intensive hospitals, to publish its formulary since 2010. Now, the two organizations are working together to provide access to their combined wealth of pediatric expertise. Online or via mobile apps, clinicians can explore the SickKids pediatric drug formulary and its practice- and evidence-based guidelines on drug selection, dosing, and administration in neonates, infants and children, including guidelines for Sickle cell, antithrombotic therapy, hematology, parenteral nutrition, and resuscitation. That content is integrated with clear, concise, relevant Lexicomp drug information, featuring the pediatric and neonatal drug information database used by 90% of US News & World Report's top-ranked hospitals specializing in neonatology.

Institution-wide licenses to the SickKids formulary integrated with Lexicomp Online Web-based drug information reference are currently available by contacting Wolters Kluwer representative Courtney DeLuca at 330-656-0332 or Individual healthcare professionals will be able to choose from four Lexicomp Mobile Apps packages featuring the formulary in early 2015.

"This is a valuable tool for anyone caring for children and is used daily across the hospital," says Jimmy Fung, Director of Pharmacy at SickKids. "It is written by over 50 pediatricians and allied healthcare professionals and features extensive information on drug selection and dosing recommendations for neonates, infants and children. It is constantly being updated to stay current with new research and innovations."

"We are proud to offer the industry's gold standard of pediatric and neonatal drug and clinical information through Lexicomp, and that content is only enriched when employed alongside the depth of pediatric knowledge cultivated by The Hospital for Sick Children," stated Steven Kerscher, Vice President & General Manager, Clinical Drug Information, Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions. "Our relationship with SickKids continues to grow stronger thanks to our common goal and passion to help improve outcomes and enhance care for pediatric and neonatal patients."
