Positively impact NCLEX® scores with fresh insights on your school’s performance
Take that partnership to the next level by becoming a valued participant in our ongoing Next Generation (NGN) NCLEX exam efficacy research study. As a partner school, you could gain insights to positively impact your NCLEX scores while helping us help nursing students nationwide!
The NCLEX® is high stakes for all involved
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) designed the NGN NCLEX exam to measure clinical judgment, addressing what is lacking in novice nurses. The NCSBN implemented the changes effective April 1, 2023, based on years of research and the increased responsibilities of a professional nurse.
Clinical judgment prepares students for the NCLEX® and practice
The NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measure Model (CJMM) uses a case study approach to assess the ability of a nursing candidate to use clinical judgment. The NGN NCLEX exam expands the CJMM with case studies as well as incremental changes in the blueprint. New item types including bowtie and trend questions, and changes such as extended drag-and-drop and multiple-choice questions, are now the new standard.
Continuing the research
The NGN NCLEX exam allows us to build on NCSBN research and obtain efficacy data examining factors related to NCLEX success. Specifically, our research assesses the efficacy of a standardized exam, practice exams, and adaptive quizzing on NCLEX-RN® success. Our PhD, RN, and CNE qualified nursing education research manager has designed and is conducting this IRB-approved study.
Data insights and privacy are essential
Wolters Kluwer Lippincott realizes that privacy and compliance are important to our partner schools and their students, so we are using FERPA standards as our guide. We will collect both school and student data. When published, however, our data and analyses will maintain the anonymity of all participants.
What can you expect to discover?
Wolters Kluwer Lippincott is collecting data in three areas:
- What is the relationship between the standardized exam, practice exams, and adaptive quizzing on a student’s NCLEX-RN success?
- What is the relationship of student grades, GPA, and clinical hours on NCLEX-RN success?
- What is the relationship of self-efficacy and preparation for the student’s NCLEX-RN success?
