Optimising practice operations

Identifying a need for a reliable and robust practice management system, Lynn helped introduce CCH iFirm and Business Fitness solutions into the practice.

“I had used these solutions in a previous practice for about 5 years, so when I joined Young and Success, I knew I wanted to use CCH iFirm for practice management purposes,” said Lynn.

“The key benefits of CCH iFirm are the efficiency, stability and ease of use. It doesn’t take a lot of training to get people up and running on the software.

“Our practice is predominantly Chinese-speaking clients and staff, and CCH iFirm is user-friendly – even with the language barriers we’ve had no issues.”

Lynn has also had a positive experience with the ongoing support from Wolters Kluwer. The support team - from her Customer Success Manager to Technical Support - has been efficient and responsive, resolving issues promptly.

Enabling faster compliance workflows

Previously, the firm had been using a manual spreadsheet solution for workpapers, which was time-consuming to maintain. CCH Business Fitness offered a more efficient and integrated solution.

“The firm had previously developed their own spreadsheet solution which wasn’t ideal. For instance, if there is a change in legislation it wouldn't be reflected in the workpapers. It would require manual adjustments, which would be very time consuming for the firm owner and lead accountant. Plus, the spreadsheet did not integrate with the ledger,” explains Lynn.

“The resources and templates are also helpful for practice management,” Lynn added.

The team also relies on CCH iKnowConnect to support their workflow. This research tool has been invaluable for quick access to comprehensive resources, making it easier to find answers on tax topics and stay updated.

“As an example, if we want to quickly explore a tax topic, we can find it quite easily. I’m not aware of any other software packages that gives us access to things like this – it’s very comprehensive,” said Lynn.

Supporting professional development

Lynn and other Senior Practice Staff have also been subscribing to CCH Learning to fulfill their professional development requirements and now intend to use the platform as tool for their junior staff members also.

“In the upcoming year, we’re planning to fully implement CCH Learning to support the professional development of our firm’s junior staff as well. It’s a great resource for learning purposes,” said Lynn.
