Peter A.L. Bonis, MD is the Chief Medical Officer at Wolters Kluwer Health. He is a member of the executive leadership team and oversees content, informatics, and industry partnerships.

Dr. Bonis is a physician entrepreneur, executive, and internationally renowned academic leader. He was part of the founding group at UpToDate®, which has grown to become the leading evidence-based knowledge resource used by health professionals in the world.

Dr. Bonis has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry and has held leadership positions at several organizations. He serves as chief medical officer of Wolters Kluwer Health leading the team of physicians, pharmacists, engineers, informaticists, and business development executives who create clinical content across medical specialties, referential and embedded drug information, and patient engagement solutions. 

An experienced healthcare investor, Dr. Bonis has been part of the M&A team at Wolters Kluwer Health. In addition, he has served as an advisor to leading venture capital and private equity firms investing in the healthcare and life sciences landscape.

Dr. Bonis is adjunct professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology at Tufts University School of Medicine and was previously assistant professor of medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. He has published more than 70 research articles as well as several chapters and multiple thought-leadership pieces in written and visual media outlets and speaks regularly to national and international audiences. He is cofounder of the UpToDate donations program, a partnership with Harvard Medical School's Ariadne labs, which provides free access and studies the impact of UpToDate in middle and low-income countries.

Dr. Bonis received his AB from Harvard University, his MD from New York University and post-graduate training in internal medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology and in health services research at Tufts University.
