Wolters Kluwer supports Brazil with access to trusted medical content on Dengue disease

UpToDate’s trusted content on treatment of Dengue is now available to help with national health emergency

With the significant growth of Dengue cases in Brazil, Wolters Kluwer Health is providing free, online access to evidence-based information about the disease from its clinical decision support (CDS) resource, UpToDate. Access is available to doctors, even if they are not UpToDate subscribers, as well as to the general community by visiting this link

According to data from the Brazilian Ministry of Health, by the second week of March 2024, more than 1.3 million probable cases of the disease had been recorded in Brazil, double the volume in the first quarter of 2023. Regarding the incidence coefficient, which represents the risk of new cases occurring, the rate so far is above 660 per 100,000 inhabitants, a value of around 540% higher compared to the same period last year.

Nine states and 201 Brazilian municipalities have declared a health emergency due to the high volume of cases of the disease. Among them are Acre, Amapá, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and São Paulo.

According to Natalia Cabrini, Director of Strategy and Sales, Wolters Kluwer Global Growth Markets, Brazil, the objective of the initiative is to help improve patient care and contribute to reducing the volume of cases in Brazil. She explains: “We are closely monitoring the increase in Dengue cases in Brazil, and our focus is to find ways to contribute to solving this adversity as soon as possible. By providing access to this content covering prevention and early diagnosis to appropriate treatment. We hope to contribute to reducing the impact of the disease on Brazilian public health.”
