Wolters Kluwer partners with Baker Botts to present webinar on data privacy

Webinar will explore topics in data privacy to watch in 2019.

Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S. today announced that registration is open for its webinar in partnership with Baker Botts on data privacy, held on Wednesday, September 26, 1 PM – 2 PM EST. Participants will have the opportunity to earn free CLE credits by attending the live one-hour webinar. Cynthia J. Cole, CIPP/E, Special Counsel and Neil Coulson, Partner at Baker Botts, will explore the changing privacy landscape.

Cole has more than 18 years of experience representing technology companies in complex strategic business transactions, and Coulson, the intellectual property department chair for Baker Botts in London and Moscow, has more than 20 years of experience in the European data privacy landscape. They will continue the data privacy conversation with a recap of hot topics from their inaugural April 2018 GDPR webinar, a look at the current priorities for European regulators, a spotlight on the U.S. data privacy landscape and a look ahead to how privacy laws may affect U.S. companies in 2019.

“With GDPR fully in effect, the regulation has already had significant impact on many companies that handle personal data,” said Kent Frankstone, Senior Product Manager for Privacy & Cybersecurity at Wolters Kluwer. “Wolters Kluwer is pleased to partner with Baker Botts to educate legal professionals on how the regulation affects them, the influence it will have on both EU and U.S. data privacy regulation going forward, and what U.S. companies can do to prepare.”

Key discussion topics for the webinar will include:

  • GDPR in practice: How are U.S. companies adapting to GDPR and where is the EU focusing its efforts.
  • European horizon: Review of the most important country-specific legislation to date; the status of the new e-privacy regulation and an update on the current position of the U.S./EU privacy shield.
  • U.S. patchwork: A compare and contrast of California’s CCPA to GDPR and some crystal ball gazing: how will the U.S. put the state and federal data privacy pieces together?
