New nursing care models and their impact on staff recruitment, retention, competencies, and training

The inaugural CNO survey, Lippincott® FutureCare Nursing, Architects of change: How nurse leaders are transforming care delivery, examines how nursing care delivery models have changed in response to ongoing workforce and patient care challenges.

Based on a survey of 157 nurse leaders serving a wide range of organizations, the results highlight the urgent need for transformation and the emerging strategies nurse leaders are architecting to drive change and measure impact.

The survey report covers:

  • How disruptive forces are transforming care delivery and nurse leaders’ responses: More than 65% of CNOs cite the impact of value-based care and the goal to reduce readmissions as the top drivers of new model adoption.
  • Innovative models in action: Nurse leaders are piloting team-based care, virtual nursing, and internal float pools to optimize care delivery with a majority (70%) of respondents reporting plans to launch home health nursing models.
  • Evolving success metrics: Beyond financial KPIs, leaders are focusing on human metrics like nurse engagement, and patient-centered measures like care quality and patient outcomes.
