Following guidance from Malaysia’s accounting and regulatory bodies, Aznam & Co decided to digitise their firm.

“The auditing and accounting body are requiring firms to digitalise, so we knew we had to embark on this process sooner or later. We knew of CCH solutions by Wolters Kluwer through Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) so this is one of the key solutions we considered at the time,” said Aznam Abdullah, Partner, Aznam & Co.

“Time is slashed by more than half for our engagements. What was taking two weeks is down to two days. This means that we can take on more work,” Aznam explained.

“And because of the high quality of the work we’ve been able to deliver since using CCH ProSystem fx Engagement, our existing clients are asking us to do more work for them as well – such as due diligence or other audit related activities.

“Staff engagement is much higher also; my staff has been able to understand audit function better and have the ability to service more clients and learn faster.”

Smooth transition

The transition to using the software was smooth, and the firm has valued the ongoing support and training.

“We moved quite quickly to the software: in October we saw the software demonstration, in November we signed up, and we did our training in December. For a short period during year-end closing, we had to do some manual engagements in parallel for our larger clients, but by March of the following year, all client engagements were moved to the software,” said Aznam.

“Training and support have been excellent. There were times during our initial training where I thought ‘Why didn’t we do this earlier!’ and since then the support team has been very prompt in responding to our queries whether by call or email. We really appreciate CCH support.”
