Olalla & Asociados is a renowned law firm operating in Granada, Huelva and Malaga. In a friendly interview, founder Agustín Olalla explains to us in detail how Kleos helped improve the firm’s operations, achieve greater efficiency and even quickly boost its growth.

The firm has extensive experience in matters related to inheritance law, insolvency law, order for payment procedures and, especially, unfair terms of contract. However, it is essentially a criminal law firm and is recognised as such, even in the academic world. They currently have almost 500 active clients and, as a result, ‘Kleos is open practically 24 hours a day’, whether in the office or at home.

Life before Kleos

‘I remember that life before Kleos was more problematic’, says the founder of Olalla Asociados. A traditional firm with only two lawyers. Now, the firm has significantly increased its volume of work and its number of professionals. ‘The firm's growth wouldn’t have been feasible without Kleos. We would have made mistakes due to lack of time and agility, and we wouldn’t have been able to meet all the deadlines.’

Life with Kleos

‘Kleos has exceeded my expectations, far beyond what I thought possible. When you have previously worked with other programs it makes you more susceptible to making certain judgments. I didn't think it would cover the volume of work it does now’, says Agustín. Kleos has an impact in terms of saving time, avoiding missed deadlines and agility in the study of each case, which are key elements for gaining efficiency in a law firm.

Thus, one of the most outstanding points is the easy reminders, since ‘it’s practically impossible to miss a deadline’, he points out. ‘With Kleos the firm has fundamentally streamlined its activities, which is what we require; being able to see everything quickly is very satisfying.’

Another feature highlighted by the representative of this renowned law firm is the ease to study cases: finding a file and seeing practically everything ’at a glance’ provides total control of each case, which, in short, is one of the most important matters in legal practice. The program facilitates the entire management of files, data, legal information or the intervening parties. ‘It saves you a lot of work’, he says.

In addition, the detailed monitoring of invoicing is another important point: ’We know each client’s payment status at all times’, which makes the firm's management much easier.

Another advantage of Kleos is that the program grows to adapt to increasing needs. ‘I know very few programs that have as much maintenance as Kleos. And it's always being improved’, he comments.

The human side of Kleos

‘When Olalla & Asociados considered changing their legal software, the first thing they had to do was deal with a person. Someone who would guide them through the entire purchase and implementation process... and beyond! Well, the same person who guided Agustín when he started working with Kleos was the same person who asked him the questions in this interview, watching with affection as Agustín talked about Kleos.

‘When you're thinking about changing a program and the person who is taking care of you explains everything in detail and with cordiality, that has a notable influence on your decision, at least initially. Then you see that the program is working as you expected and you see that the decision you have made is the right one. This personal work, until you start working with the program, has a great influence’, Agustín points out.

As for the technical service provided by Kleos, he adds that, ’at the beginning you still don't know how to use the program 100% and you don't know how to get the most out of it, and the person on the other side of the desk or on the phone helps you’.

Some advice from Agustín Olalla

At Wolters Kluwer we also wanted to know which advice the lawyer who placed his trust in Kleos would give other law firms that have not yet decided to use this type of program. Agustín could not have been clearer, ‘It’s taking them a long time. Obviously, it’s a huge leap forwards as regards the daily activities in any law firm. I can’t understand that today there are still firms that don’t have this kind of tool.’
