Thomas Walter is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in software development, and risk management. He began his academic journey in 1990, studying experimental physics at the University of Zurich.
After his studies, Thomas Walter embarked on a career in software development, joining Hypovereinsbank as a software developer from 2001 to 2004. During this period, he focused on credit risk modelling and worked on Basel II regulatory requirements, gaining a deep understanding of the financial industry's risk landscape.
In 2005, he joined Helvetia Group and established Helvetia Group Risk Management where he set up the Swiss Solvency Test. He then spearheaded the implementation and maintenance of a Group-wide risk management data warehouse, facilitating efficient risk assessment and decision-making processes.
From 2010 onwards, Thomas Walter developed the quantitative Solvency II reporting (QRT process) for Helvetia Group's EU subsidiaries and was responsible for replacing the Oracle-based Solvency II System with the Tagetik SII prepackaged solution.
