Karen Jones is responsible for the development, design, and implementation of evidence-based clinical content and support for infection prevention leaders.
Karen has spent the past 15 years as a practicing infection preventionist in both large and small acute care hospitals, managed clinical research projects at a large academic medical center and provided coaching and support for long-term care infection preventionists. She has published several peer-reviewed manuscripts, presented on topics such as catheter-associated urinary tract infections, antimicrobial stewardship, and multidrug-resistant organism prevention strategies.
She was a subject matter expert for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s States Targeting Reduction in Infections via Engagement (STRIVE) Project. Prior to infection prevention and control, she was an emergency department nurse in a Level 1 trauma center and forensic nurse examiner in Detroit, MI.
She is board-certified in infection control (CIC), long-term care (LTC-CIP), is a Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (FAPIC) and an active member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Prevention & Epidemiology (APIC). She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Concordia University Chicago and Master of Public Health from Benedictine University.
