Maria Montenegro is EVP, Chief Strategy Officer for Wolters Kluwer, a leading global provider of expert solutions, insights and services for professionals. In this role, Maria is responsible for partnering with the Executive Board in leading the development of strategies to continue driving business growth, transformation and innovation across the company. Specifically, she is responsible for the Global Strategy, Corporate Development, Separations & Integrations, Pricing Strategy and Sales Transformation capabilities.

A big believer in the power of collaboration, Maria built bridges and developed a shared vision for Wolters Kluwer’s Corporate Performance and ESG strategy, which led to the creation of the new division in 2023. This Division brings together four of Wolters Kluwer’s global enterprise software businesses to serve the growing demand from corporations and banks for integrated financial, operational and ESG reporting and performance management solutions.

Before joining Wolters Kluwer in early 2022, Maria spent nearly a decade at McKinsey & Company where she served some of the largest corporations in the world on Portfolio Strategy, M&A, and technology transformation topics, including building digital businesses for her clients. Previously, she spent time as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley supporting Financial Sponsors, and as an entrepreneur building eCommerce businesses with Rocket Internet. She has a strong track record of leading global organizations through strategic growth and digital transformation.

Maria holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BSc in Management from Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics in Portugal. Maria is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community and an Associate with the European Round Table for Industry (ERT).
